Programme for the Spouses of Georgia’s Ambassadors

20.07.17 On 20 July, 2017, within the framework of the annual Ambassadorial meeting, a special cultural and educational programme for the spouses of Georgian Ambassadors was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. The programme was organized for the fifth time and aimed to strengthen the role of Ambassadors’ spouses in supporting the promotion of Georgia in their countries of residence.
The topics covered Georgia’s Foreign Policy Priorities, Cultural Diplomacy, Overview of the Tourism Industry, Georgia’s European History, The Programme of the Promotion of Georgian Literature Abroad, Modern Georgian Ballet. During the meeting, Nino Lejava, the Spouse of the Georgian Ambassador to the Republic of South Africa, gave a presentation about the activities carried out during the year by the Association of the Foreign Diplomats’ Spouses in South Africa.
The final component of the programme was the visit to the Georgian State Museum of Theatre, Music, Cinema and Choreography – Art Palace. During the visit, George Kalandia, Director of the Museum took the guests on a tour of the Museum’s exhibition halls and unique collections including the exposition “Variety of Georgian Costume”.

On 15 May, Daryl Copeland, Senior Fellow at the Canadian Global Affairs Institute, former Canadian diplomat, analyst and consultant delivered a lecture about the “Diplomacy in the 21st Century: Best Practices and Emerging Trends”, at the Levan Mikeladze Diplomatic Training and Research Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.

On 8 May, in the framework of the events planned in connection with the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the First Democratic Republic of Georgia, the second Open Door Day on „Profession of Diplomat“ was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Levan Mikeladze Diplomatic Training and Research Institute for the students from the Tbilisi Public Schools, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.

On 4 May, a lecture on “Health System in Georgia” was delivered at the Levan Mikeladze Training and Research Institute by Ketevan Goginashvili, Head of Health Policy Division, Health Care Department, Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia. The lecture was attended by the foreign diplomats accredited to Georgia, as well as the representatives from the International Women’s Association (IWA).
